Description
The ALOKA ProSound Alpha 5 Refurbished Ultrasound Machine is a professional diagnostic ultrasound platform developed by ALOKA for detailed diagnostic imaging across a wide range of clinical applications. The system was particularly positioned for operating-room and surgical environments, while also supporting general diagnostic, vascular, cardiac and women’s health examinations.
At the core of the ProSound Alpha 5 is Aloka’s High Density Digital Front End (HDDF) technology. The system uses a high-density digital architecture to process ultrasound signals and support high-resolution imaging. Published specifications describe a 12-bit digital beamformer and high-speed front-side signal sampling, contributing to detailed image information and broad dynamic range.
The system incorporates Pure Sound Transmission (PST), which is designed to transmit controlled ultrasound signals for improved sensitivity and resolution. Combined with Hemispheric Sound Technology (HST) transducers, the platform was designed to reduce artifacts and improve spatial resolution. Pixel Focus provides optimized beam characteristics from near to far fields, helping maintain image detail throughout the imaging area.
For tissue imaging, the Alpha 5 features Definitive Tissue Harmonic Echo (D-THE) and Microspatial Compounding. These technologies are designed to enhance contrast, tissue differentiation and image uniformity while reducing unwanted artifacts. The system’s Quint Frequency Imaging allows compatible probes to operate at multiple selectable frequencies, providing flexibility for different depths and anatomical structures.
The Alpha 5 also provides extensive Doppler functionality, including Color Doppler, PowerFlow, PW Doppler, HPRF PW Doppler and CW Doppler. For cardiovascular examinations, configurations can include Tissue Doppler Imaging, ECG and Stress Echo, while advanced configurations may support Contrast Harmonic Imaging and other specialized applications.
The system supports a broad clinical application range including abdominal, cardiac, peripheral vascular, OB/GYN, fetal, pediatric, small-organ, musculoskeletal and superficial examinations. The iDMS Integrated Data Management System provides patient and image management functionality, while published configurations support DICOM connectivity, Ethernet, USB and external printing/video interfaces. The system can also be equipped with a variety of Aloka probes, including convex, linear, sector and specialty surgical transducers.
